Become a CDA Professional Development Specialist
1. Review the PD Specialist Eligibility Requirements

2. Apply for the PD Specialist Training
The Council will review your application and will
inform you when you may proceed to training.
Note: All ECE professionals interested in becoming a PD Specialist
must complete the PD Specialist application (click the brown button to the right).
IMPORTANT NOTE: When completing the PD Specialist application, make sure to provide all requested information about your educational and professional history. Specifically:
- when writing about your educational history, make sure to include the schools attended with the graduation date for each, the degree earned and the major (areas of focus)
- when writing about your professional experience, make sure to include your job titles, dates worked and relevant responsibilities
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED BY THE COUNCIL.
3. Applied Successfully?
Enter the Portal to access and complete the PD Specialist
Online Training and take the exam.
If you pass the PDS online exam, make sure to follow the directions in the portal and:

- Or fax the signed form to: (202) 683 – 6794
After you successfully complete the online training, return to the Portal any time to:
- Get Your PD Specialist ID Number
- Visit the Resource Library
- Update Your Public Profile
- Submit the Verification Visit Scores
Remember: Candidates use the online Find-A-PDSpecialist Directory to find Specialists who can conduct their Verification Visits. If you decide to be a part of the Directory, make sure your public profile is always current, and check your email consistently!
