The Council has released the newly revised editions of the Child Development Associate (CDA) Assessment System and Competency Standards books for all setting types: Preschool, Infant/Toddler, Family Child Care, and Home Visitor. The revised Competency Standards reflect changes to the Professional Resource File requirements and updated information included in the Second Edition of Essentials for Child Development Associates Working with Young Children training curriculum , edited by Carol Brunson Day. Essentials is commonly used in the field as a textbook to prepare CDA Candidates to meet the 120-clock hour formal training requirement.

Note : All the Competency Standards books are color coded by setting types: green for Preschool, yellow for Infant/Toddler, and blue for Family Child Care. The Home Visitor Competency Standards book is now lavender.

  Second Edition Training Manuals Now Available
  The updated versions of the Seminar Instructor's Guide and Field Advisors Guide corresponding to the Second Edition of Essentials for Child Development Associates Working with Young Children are now available. Their content reflects current research as well as new trends in the field of early childhood education. These texts also offer a variety of resources available for early childhood professionals and promote the use of the Internet with its vast wealth of information and support.

Redesigned Website
The Council has redesigned a user-friendly website to enhance ability and facilitate easier navigation of program information and Council's resources. Users will be able to view and navigate the revised website by selecting the Homepage feature. Once you are on the Council's main page, you will be able to move your cursor over the five main units and a menu of topics in each unit will be visible, providing a quick overview of detailed information available at your fingertips.

Online Support
The Council will offer an Online Support feature to enable website guests to ask questions about the CDA Credentialing Program or other questions that arise while reviewing the website. The Customer Service Department will have Online Support operators available to answer questions during regular business hours 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, EST, Monday through Friday. Messages received during non-business hours will be answered the following business day.
