To ensure children's safety, all CDAs applying for Renewal will need to meet a new first aid requirement, if they have not done so already. Effective November 15, 2011, Renewal Candidates will need to have:

• Pediatric First Aid Certification

Please note that this certification must (1) include treatment for a blocked airway and (2) provide rescue breathing for infants and young children.

All Council publications will reflect this change immediately. However, the Council will continue to accept Standard First Aid certifications for Renewal through November 15, 2011. After that, you will have to meet the new requirement to be eligible for CDA Renewal.
