Council Representatives

Council Representatives are professionals in early childhood education, selected, trained, and endorsed by the Council to conduct Verification Visits for CDA Candidates.

Council Representatives conduct a Verification Visit as the final piece of the CDA assessment. Once the Council assigns a Representative to a Candidate, the Representative is responsible for scheduling the verification visit. During the visit, the Representative will:

1. Verify that Candidates have all their documentation.
2. Administer the Early Childhood Studies Review (a written test).
3. Conduct the Oral Interview.
4. Collect the following documents to mail to the Council:

a. A copy of the autobiography
b. A copy of the statements of competence
c. The CDA Assessment Observation Instrument
d. The Parent Opinion Questionnaires
e. The Early Childhood Studies Review
f.  The Oral Interview responses

Becoming a Council Representative

Council Representatives must be trained early childhood education professionals who have direct experience with children and their families. Council Representatives need to meet all eligibility requirements.

Those who meet the eligibility requirements and are selected by the Council will be trained by the Council on how to conduct a verification visit. Every other year, Council Representatives are required to take Rep Refresher training.

The Council offers Representative training and Representative refresher training in targeted geographical regions and in conjunction with early childhood conferences. For a list of training sessions, take a look at our calendar.
