CongratsThe Council for Professional Recognition congratulates Katie Hamm on her appointment as acting deputy assistant secretary for early childhood development; she’s also serving as the acting associate deputy assistant secretary in the Office of Early Childhood Development (ECD). This office is based at the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families; ECD “acts as a catalyst to create a collective impact and support the early learning and care of our nation’s children and their families.”

“We look forward to working with Katie Hamm in her important roles as we all focus on what’s best for children and families,” says Dr. Calvin E. Moore, Jr., the CEO of the Council. “We’re very familiar with her impressive experience and accomplishments, including serving as a presidential management fellow assigned to the Administration for Children and Families in the Office of Child Care. These are important responsibilities and we can all feel confident in Katie’s leadership.”

Before joining the Biden-Harris Administration, Hamm was the vice president for early childhood policy at the Center for American Progress, where she oversaw the organization’s early childhood program to advance child care, preschool, Head Start and home visiting investment.

Previously, she was a career civil servant at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, where she worked on budgetary and policy issues related to human services programs.
