Exciting News: Updated Eligibility Requirements to Become a CDA Professional Development Specialist™

August 20, 2024

The Council is recruiting ECE professionals to become CDA Professional Development Specialists™. As mentors and coaches, PD Specialists play a key role in CDA candidates’ progress toward successful assessments.

This makes our PD Specialists an integral part of the Council’s work, so we have now aligned their eligibility requirements with our mission and vision. The updates set new guidelines for appropriate work experience and provide more opportunities for CDA holders to serve as PD Specialists for the Council.

The key updates include:

  • Adding the CDA credential as an education option
  • Clarifying work experience requirements for those with master’s and doctoral degrees
  • Simplifying the work requirement to one year of fostering the professional growth of another person across all education levels.

These updates are effective now to help potential specialists do even more to support the Council’s work.

For full PDS eligibility requirements, please access our website here. If you’re eligible, we invite you to submit a PD Specialist application online.

Be sure to view our CDA PD Specialist application tutorials before applying.
