WASHINGTON — The Council for Professional Recognition, the nonprofit organization that supports early childhood education professionals and administers the Child Development Associate® (CDA) credential, has named Elisa Shepherd as its vice president of strategic alliances. Shepherd brings more than 25 years of early childhood education (ECE) experience to this role; she has committed her career to developing programs, professional development, and public policies focused on working families, young children, and educators.

In her role, Shepherd will lead the Council’s efforts to build and strengthen partnerships that advance the ECE profession and expand the reach and impact of the CDA®. Shepherd most recently served as associate vice president at The Learning Experience and senior manager at KinderCare Education, where she led government affairs, grant funding and impacted public policies across 40 states.

“We’re excited to welcome Elisa to the Council. Elisa’s arrival comes at a pivotal moment as we reimagine our collaboration with states to extend our influence in early childhood education. Her extensive experience will be instrumental in forging impactful partnerships and driving our mission forward,” says Dr. Calvin E. Moore, Jr., CEO of the Council.

“I’m honored to join the Council, especially at this moment when the Council is experiencing robust growth. Throughout my leadership roles in the early childhood education sector, I’ve seen the value the Council brings as the leader in the credentialing of early childhood educators worldwide. I look forward to strengthening and creating strategic alliances that will further our mission and make a significant impact that will benefit early childhood educators, parents, children and the entire sector,” says Shepherd.

“Elisa brings a wealth of expertise and a dynamic perspective to the Council. Her track record of cultivating and sustaining meaningful relationships aligns with our vision to support a society where all children learn and thrive in environments led by competent, valued early childhood educators. We’re excited to have her play a pivotal role in our energized efforts to engage in innovative collaborations,” says Andrew Davis, chief operating officer of the Council.
