WASHINGTON — Dr. Calvin E. Moore, Jr., the CEO of the Council for Professional Recognition, issued the following statement:

“Our education community and the whole world, in fact, is once again pulled together in shock and grief over a senseless act of extreme violence. This tragedy is especially painful for those who work in early childhood education as The Covenant School in Nashville serves students from preschool through sixth grade. We must pledge that such settings should be free from unspeakable acts that threaten the safety of everyone. Schools, especially those that serve young children, should always be places where each person feels cared for and nurtured.

We encourage those in need to seek the help and mental health support they may need in processing this school shooting.”
