WASHINGTON, DC — March 12, 2021— “The Council for Professional Recognition believes that children, families and communities will greatly benefit from the passage and signing of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. The American Rescue Plan, combined with other legislation, means there is now over $50 billion in direct relief funding to the childcare sector.

The childcare sector employs thousands of the early childhood educators who are credentialed by the Council. Child Development Associate® credential-holders and the entire sector has continued to provide essential service during the COVID-19 pandemic; we thank them for their service during this very troubling and challenging time.

I know we are all committed to stabilizing the childcare sector and this funding will be an important part of that effort. In particular, the Head Start funding plays a critical role in reaching and educating children from our most vulnerable communities.”

— Dr. Calvin E. Moore, Jr., CEO, Council for Professional Recognition
