Getting to Know the Council

Meet Marian McGhie

Accounting Support II, Accounting & Finance

“CDA holders open doors for young children and help communities to advance nationwide.”

Marian was born in Jamaica and now lives in Florida with her two sons, Daniel and Jordan, along with their German Shepherd, Bella. Education opened doors for her, and that’s why she’s a big fan of teachers with the skills to help children fulfill their hidden promise. CDA holders do this, and so did Marian’s fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Fairchild, who made a lasting impact on her life. Mrs. Fairchild taught Marian the importance of kindness and compassion, values she brings to her professional life at the Council, where we are committed to supporting our most vulnerable young learners.

The Council’s mission aligns with Marian’s personal calling to serve those who are in need, as she explains. “Ministry and missions are my passion,” Marian says. So, she often travels abroad to volunteer in churches, where she prepares meals and counsels those who face life struggles. Marian urges them to “create their own comeback stories,” and she brings this sense of conviction to her work when she comes back to this country, where many children also struggle. Marian knows that committed, compassionate teachers, like those who earn a CDA, can help children blossom and someday build better tomorrows for the communities where they live.
