Professor Urges Maryland Directors to Use Limited-Time CDA® Funding

November 17, 2021

“In Maryland, CDA® funding is available right now. Take that opportunity,” urged Dr. Sonia Pruneda-Hernandez at  the Early Educators Leadership Conference (EELC) this October.  We sat down with the Montgomery College Early Education Chair to learn about her passion for preparing early childhood teachers to help children progress and thrive.  Dr. Pruneda-Hernandez, who holds both a Ph.D, and a CDA®, encouraged Maryland educators not to miss the chance to receive funding for the CDA credential application and shared a special message with program directors:

“Directors: take this opportunity. Your staff will get that basic ECE knowledge. They’re going to have a credential that will support your center with the high quality everybody is looking for. We don’t know how long this funding will last, so while it’s available, put in as many teachers as you have in your center. There is no cost to you. Plus it’s a benefit to both your center and to your child care providers and teachers.”

Funding for the nationally recognized and portable credential is available for a limited time at no application cost to Maryland-based early childhood educators through a grant from the Maryland State Department of Education and the Council. Check your eligibility and apply today!
