Leveraging the CDA® Registered Apprenticeship: Building Stronger Pathways in Michigan

The Council showcased its commitment to strengthening state partnerships on November 5, 2025, at “Leveraging the CDA® Registered Apprenticeship: Building Stronger Pathways in Michigan.” Sandra Kowalchek, the Council’s manager of partner relations, put a spotlight on how the CDA serves as a strong ECE workforce solution and catalyst for Michigan’s early educators to advance their careers. Joining Sandra, were a wide range of stakeholders who collaborated with the Council on the event: Race to Talent™/LEO (Michigan’s Department of Labor & Economic Opportunity), MIAEYC, MiLEAP (Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement and Potential), ECIC (MI Early Childhood Investment Corporation – Childcare Innovation Fund), and Capital Area Michigan Works! Together, they discussed the value and successes of registered CDA apprenticeship programs in the state, along with ways to expand their reach. And that’s one of the Council’s goals as it continues to partner with states to provide more early educators with access to the CDA.
