Finding Ways to Thank Early Childhood Educators

June 3, 2020

We recently celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week, but it’s never too late to thank and honor educators who make a difference. It’s especially important to recognize early childhood educators; they all do a great job. Some right now are going that extra mile by staying on duty in early ed settings as they look after the children of frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here are some ideas about how to say and show your thanks to all early childhood educators and daycare workers:

  • Have a parent ask his/her child why they appreciate the teacher and have the parent “write out” or record a video of the story and then have the student email it or send it through the mail
  • Help a child create a craft project, drawing, etc., that speaks to teacher appreciation; painting a kindness rock is a good idea
  • Post a compliment on social media; on Twitter, be sure to use the daycare center’s handle
  • Create a Tik Tok or YouTube video of appreciation
  • Purchase gift cards to teachers, especially to local businesses that need support right now
  • Plant a tree, flower or other seedling to honor all teachers

Although these may appear to be small gestures, these tokens of appreciation can go a long way to our frontline teachers and the sacrifices they are making for our youngest learners.
