The Council and FCCLA Join Forces to Strengthen the Early Childhood Education Workforce

October 21, 2026

The Council for Professional Recognition and the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) have developed a partnership to support students who are preparing for careers in early childhood education and related fields through the Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential™.

The partnership connects Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education, FCCLA experiences and the CDA—an industry-recognized credential—to help provide the next generation of early childhood professionals. We will be collaborating on projects to support the promotion of the CDA® as part of the career and technical education (CTE) pathway.

The partnership creates a stronger connection between FCS education, FCCLA and career credentialing, helping students turn what they learn in the classroom and through FCCLA into meaningful preparation for their future careers.

Through FCCLA competitive events, national programs, leadership experiences and classroom integration, students already develop many of the skills essential to working effectively with children and families. The partnership will help FCS educators and FCCLA advisers intentionally connect those experiences with CDA competencies and expectations.

We will also provide joint resources and professional development to help FCS educators integrate credential preparation into classroom instruction and FCCLA experiences.

Together, FCCLA and the Council are building a stronger pathway:

FCS Classroom → FCCLA → CDA Credential → Career

By connecting classroom learning, leadership experiences and the industry-recognized CDA, this partnership will help provide students with the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to pursue careers supporting children and families.

From classroom to credential, FCCLA and the Council are preparing the next generation of early childhood professionals!
