Council Offers Help to States to get New Preschool Grant Money

September 27, 2018

Grant-for-PreschoolThe Council is excited about the opportunity to partner with states and U.S. territories as they ramp up applications for Preschool Development Grants. The money – up to $15 million in some cases – is available to all states, five U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. It can be used to support existing or new strategies for children ages birth to five. The Council is available to help these areas as they work on their workforce strategies.

According to (HHS) grant guidelines, the money can be used for:

• Innovation in planning and designing programs for early childhood education
• Enhancing, implementing and evaluating early childhood care and education systems to support the healthy growth and development of all infants, toddlers and young children, particularly low-income and disadvantaged children.

Research demonstrates that the knowledge, skills and competencies of the workforce are strongly related to quality programs for children. For more information about the grant and to learn more about how the Council can be a partner to support your grant application, please contact Tre Maxie, director of External Engagement, at TreM@cdacouncil.org.
