Beyond the Children’s Table: Coalitions that Make the Economic Case for Child Care

In a rapidly shifting world, early childhood advocates can’t afford to stay isolated “at the children’s table.” Cross-sector collaboration must become a cornerstone of every advocate’s toolkit. This session explores how early childhood professionals can drive systemic change by building value-driven coalitions that connect with broader educational, economic, and social systems. Drawing on global examples from Finland and Canada, we’ll show how inclusive partnerships—spanning families, schools, businesses, and workforce leaders—can transform the future of early learning. We’ll also highlight strategies for creating local learning cohorts and communities of care that uplift educators and position early childhood education as central to public policy and economic progress.

Pathway to Purpose: Revolutionizing Early Childhood Education through High School CDA Credentialing

The early childhood education field faces a critical workforce shortage, with Head Start programs nationwide forced to close classrooms due to insufficient staffing. This crisis demands innovative solutions to build a robust pipeline of qualified educators while simultaneously expanding access to the Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential™. The Pathway to Purpose program, launched by The Academy at NHSA (National Head Start Association) in partnership with Harmony Academy, represents a groundbreaking approach to addressing these challenges by bringing CDA credentialing directly to high school students through career and technical education (CTE) pathways.

Seed Talks: Micro-Sessions

Small ideas can grow into transformative change. Seed Talks are short, story-driven sessions that spotlight early childhood leaders who are planting bold ideas and nurturing innovative practices in the field. In just 15 minutes or less, each speaker will share a personal journey, a powerful lesson, or a moment of inspiration that took root and sparked growth—in their work, their communities, or the lives of young children and families. These talks are designed to ignite curiosity, celebrate creativity, and remind us that even the smallest seed can lead to lasting impacts.
