Getting to Know the Council

Meet Sarah Murphy

Project Manager, Quality Assurance & Research

The CDA provides educators with an entry into education without requiring them to get a college degree. But it does require them to gain skills, so many states rely on the CDA to ensure educators have the experience and expertise to serve our youngest learners.

Sarah’s motto is “Ask questions, explore your world and try new things.” words she acts on as an avid explorer and artist. Sarah also has a deep interest in education because she’s been surrounded by committed educators throughout her life. During her childhood, Sarah was heavily influenced by her closest friends’ parents, who were educators. Now, as an adult, her mother-in-law is a retired high school teacher, and her husband is an elementary and middle school teacher with certifications in both special education and ECE. These family members and friends have made a broad impact on the children they’ve served. And Sarah is making an impact on children, too, as she explores ways to assure the quality of the CDA and serve our educators even better.

Her research helps the Council open new doors for early childhood teachers, and Sarah spends her free time looking to open new doors in her own life. She and her husband like to visit new cities and countries, historical sites and especially national parks. Her goal is to visit all the nation’s national parks. Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and loves to devote time to photography and painting in her studio at home. She also enjoys being outdoors, where she has run 10 half marathons and two marathons. She’s now training for a third, and there’s a high chance that she will succeed in reaching the finish line. Sarah believes in going the distance in every part of her life.
