Meet Sarah Murphy

Project Manager, Quality Assurance & Research

“The CDA is important because it provides a non-traditional entry into teaching that doesn’t rely on higher education. It is a backbone for many states to ensure their educators have the appropriate education, experience, and competency to work with our youngest children.”

Sarah Murphy is an avid explorer and artist, with the motto of “Ask questions, explore your world, and try new things.” Sarah has been surrounded by dedicated educators throughout her life. Two of Sarah’s closest childhood friends’ parents were educators, her mother-in-law is a retired high school teacher, and her husband is an elementary and middle school music teacher with both ECE and special education certifications. Growing up with and now married to an educator, she holds a deep gratitude for educators and the impact they have on their students both in and outside of the classroom. This appreciation eventually led her to working at the Council for Professional Recognition.

When Sarah isn’t giving her all to ensuring that the CDA is the best that it can be, Sarah likes to travel with her husband to National Parks, historical sites, and new cities or countries. (Indeed, she has the goal of visiting all the National Parks!) Sarah holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting and drawing, and tries to dedicates time to painting and photography in her at-home office-studio space. An additional fun fact about Sarah is that she has run 2 marathons (training for a third) and 10 half marathons.
