What We’re Up To:

The Institute for Home Visiting Workforce Development and Jackie Walorski Center for Evidence-Based Case Management (HVWFD) is always looking for ways to partner with the early childhood community to elevate the National Strategy for the Home Visiting Workforce. We invite partners across health systems, early childhood programs, K-16 educational institutions, workforce development agencies and philanthropic organizations to join us in advancing the National Strategy. All are welcome and needed.
HVWFD will be present in many roles at the National Home Visiting Summit , hosted by our partners at Start Early on September 29-30, 2026. The National Home Visiting Summit is a multi-day in-person conference in Baltimore, MD, that brings together early childhood leaders to advance the home visiting field.
HVWFD members will also present at the upcoming 2026 Parents as Teachers (PAT) International Conference in Portland, OR, on October 5-8, 2026. The PAT International Conference brings together roughly 2,500 home visiting professionals, early childhood leaders, researchers and family advocates who share a commitment to helping parents fulfill their vital role as their children’s first teacher.
We are excited to share some recently published resources:
Managing Up and Down: Supporting Home Visiting Supervisors
This brief offers practical strategies, real-world scenarios, reflection questions and actionable tools to help home visiting supervisors strengthen their leadership practice and navigate the processes of managing up, managing down and leading across levels with clarity and confidence.
Strengthening Home Visitor Safety: Applying Process Maps and Decision Trees
This is a collection of adaptable process maps and decision trees that support consistent decision-making before, during and after home visits. You can customize these examples to align with individual program policies, local protocols and community contexts. Use them to help teams respond thoughtfully to a variety of situations while promoting consistency across staff.
