Council for Professional Recognition Appoints New Chief Financial Officer

WASHINGTON — The Council for Professional Recognition, an organization that supports early childhood education professionals and administers the Child Development Associate® (CDA) credential, has named Janice Bigelow as the organization’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Bigelow has more than 30 years in accounting and finance experience, including public accounting, for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. She has held management-level positions with BDO Seidman, Kiplinger Washington Editors, Pew Center for Global Climate Change, Communities In Schools and most recently American Humane. Bigelow holds a CPA from the State of Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lycoming College.

“I am so pleased to welcome Jan to the Council,” says Dr. Calvin Moore Jr., CEO of the Council. “Jan brings a wealth of financial knowledge to her role and her experience with different organizations makes her a great fit for the Council. I am confident Jan will provide strong leadership and will be a valuable addition to the organization”.

The mission of the Council is to promote improved performance and recognition of professionals in the early childhood education of children ages birth to 5 years old through the CDA. The CDA is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education and is a crucial stepping stone on career advancement in early childhood education. To date, over 800,000 CDA credentials have been issued around the world.
